§ Mrs. Bainasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what expenditure has been approved by the Scottish Education Department for the building programme to expand the Bearsden site of Notre Dame college of education; and what time-scale is envisaged for the completion of such works;
(2) when he envisages the final closure of the Dowanhill premises of Notre Dame college of education and the establishment of a single campus site at Bearsden;
(3) what recent discussions he has held with the board of governors and Association of Lecturers in Colleges of Education in Scotland representatives of Notre Dame college of education; and what guarantees he has been able to give to them of an acceptable time-scale for transfer to a fully-equipped single campus site.
§ Mr. McElhoneDiscussions are proceeding with Notre Dame college of education about the accommodation needed at Bearsden in the light of my right hon. Friend's decision to phase out the Dowanhill premises. Final decisions have not yet been taken about either the need for new building works or timing, but my right hon. Friend shall have full regard to the educational needs of the college.
