§ Rev. Ian Paisleyasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether it is proposed to retire all men in the Ulster Defence Regiment over the age limit of 55 years.
§ Mr. Robert C. BrownUnder the current rules soldiers can expect to serve only until they are 55. However, annual extensions can be granted up to a maximum age of 60 where it is in the interests of the regiment to do so.
