§ Mr. Edgeasked the Secretary of State for Employment why the Health and Safety Executive has not issued the report of a pilot study on health and safety in the universities, contrary to assurances given that it would be circulated in the early part of the year; and when the Health and Safety Commission will be having discussions with the Association of University Teachers on the report.
§ Mr. John Grant, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 19th May 1978; Vol. 950, c. 322], gave the following information:
The chairman of the Health and Safety Commission informs me that the report on the pilot study undertaken by the Health and Safety Executive has taken rather longer than expected to prepare for circulation. It is now expected to be ready for issue towards the end of June. Discussions on the report between the Executive and employers and unions in universities, including the Association of University Teachers, may be expected to start soon after that date.
