§ Mr. Richard Body
asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the policies relating to fluoridation in the other member States of the European Community.
§ Mr. Roland Moyle
, pursuant to his replies [Official Report, 2nd May 1978; Vol. 949, c. 34 and 8th May 1978; Vol. 949, c. 368], gave the following information:
Five of the nine EEC countries at present permit fluoridation of water supplies and two of them have so far introduced it. In one other country which introduced fluoridation it has had to cease because of a legal decision on a technicality, not for any medical or dental reason. Seven EEC countries were co-sponsors of one or other of the 1969 and 1975 resolutions of the World Health Assembly which commended fluoridation to member States.
