§ Mr. StrangThe annual average net transfer of land out of agriculture, including rough grazings, in England to other uses for the period 1969–70 to 1974–75, the latest information available, compared with those in the period 1946–47 to 1950–51 is estimated to be:
in the United Kingdom agriculture industry in each of the last five years for which figures are available.
§ Mr. StrangThe number of workers employed in agriculture in the United Kingdom in each of the last five years was as follows:
1973 416,000 1974 398,000 1975 382,000 1976 377,000 1977 373,000 These figures, compiled from the June censuses are for regular whole-time, regular part-time, seasonal and casual workers; they cover family and hired workers.
Figures for salaried managers, which are collected separately in Great Britain, are included in respect of Great Britain; such figures are not separately collected in Northern Ireland.
