§ Mr. Hodgsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has had about a shortage of 50p coins; and what plans he has to increase their production.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 12th May 1978], gave the following answer:
Apart from advice from the banks with which the Royal Mint is in constant touch, only four representations have been received. The Royal Mint has already doubled its normal rate of production and plans to increase it still further in the coming months.
