asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many officers or men in the categories listed below: (a) are in service with the Royal Navy or (b) have left the Royal Navy or applied for discharge from it during the period 30th April 1977 to 30th April 1978:

  1. (i) aircraft pilots qualified for deck landing of fixed wing aircraft;
  2. (ii) Naval air artificers with more than 12 years' service;
  3. (iii) other naval artificers with more than 12 years' service; and
  4. (iv) Able Seamen.

Figures are not available for the year ending 30th April 1978; the latest information for the year ending 1st April 1978 is as follows. The figures for officers or men who left the Service comprehend all forms of discharge including those who left on completing their normal engagements.
