§ Mr. Formanasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will set out in tabular form the current total of installed refinery capacity in the United Kingdom, and the current projections of future capacity in 1985; and what percentage of total EEC refinery capacity those figures represent in each case.
§ Dr. MabonGross United Kingdom crude oil distillation capacity as reported by the oil companies is currently 142 million tonnes per annum; approximately 17 per cent. of the capacity in the EEC as a whole. Assuming that the plans which have been notified for four new refineries in the United Kingdom are implemented in full, the United Kingdom figure would rise to 161 million tonnes per annum in 1984, the last year for which information is available, and we estimate that this would represent about 19 per cent of EEC capacity for that year.
