§ Mr. Arthur Lewis
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment under what statutory authority he has advised and encouraged local authorities and water undertakings to add fluorides to water; and what action anyone can take in order not to use such water, if he has conscientious or medical reasons for not doing so.616W
§ Mr. Denis Howell
I do not need statutory authority to advise and encourage. I am advised that there are no medical grounds for avoiding the use of water containing up to one part per million fluoride whether present naturally or added artificially.
