§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the cost occasioned to his Department by the use by the Manpower Services Commission of the Warwick University model on future unemployment trends and relevant data; and whether any other analogous costs to public funds arise from this operation.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that £116,000 has so far been contributed to the manpower research group at Warwick University since the project began in October 1975. The group is carrying 465W out several studies in the area of manpower, including a model of future trends which will provide detailed analyses of employment and unemployment not available from other sources. The group also receives financial support from the Engineering Industry Training Board for research on employment in engineering.
