asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will list the regional and other organisations to which the balance of bilateral disbursements was allocated in 1976, pursuant to her Written Answer to the hon. Member for Carshalton on Wednesday 19th April; and what was the amount of public money allocated to each recipient in this category.

Mrs. Hart

I shall be writing to the hon. Gentleman.

Mr. Forman

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will set out in tabular form for the latest full year available a list of all the countries which now receive official bilateral aid from the United Kingdom, broken down into the following categories (a) those recipients which receive less than £1 million, (b) those which receive between £1 million and £10 million, (c) those which receive between £10 million and £100 million, (d) those which receive in excess of £100 million; and if she will give the current per capita incomes of the recipient countries in each case.

Mrs. Hart

I shall be writing to the hon. Gentleman.

Mr Forman

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will set out in tabular form the shortfall in spending on the official aid budget for each of the last budgetary years since 1970–71 both in money terms at current prices and as a percentage of the total official aid budget for the year in question; and if she will provide comparable figures for each aid giving partner in the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Mrs. Hart

The shortfall in spending (a) at 1978 prices on the net aid programme in each of the financial years 1971–72 to 1976–77, and (b) as a percentage of the total, was:

(a) (b)

1971–72 No shortfall (8.8 excess) (+2)
1972–73 10.7 2
1973–74 18.2 3
1974–75 17.0 3
1975–76 22.7 4
1976–77 24.1 4

Comparable figures for other members of the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-peoration and Development are not available.

Mr. Forman

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will set out in convenient form the amounts of official bilateral aid in 1976 received by each of the recipient countries mentioned in her reply pursuant to her Written Answer of 19th April to the hon. Member for Carshalton.

Mrs. Hart

The information requested is set out fully in Table 14 of "British Aid Statistics 1972–76", of which a copy is in the Library of the House.
