755W
§ Mr. GoldingMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment outlined the Government's decision on the future of the TES scheme in his statement on 15th March when he said that the scheme has been extended for applications until 31st March 1979 with important modifications which had been agreed with the EEC.
Recipients of TES would have to submit plans showing how jobs supported by the subsidy would be made viable.
Other changes reducing the level of TES support in the textile, clothing and footwear sector would not be introduced before May when a short-time working compensation scheme would be available to offset the limitation of TES.
Firms in the textile, clothing and footwear sector which have exhausted TES would be able to apply under the short-time working compensation scheme.
