§ Mr. Guy BarnettThe statutory rate rebate scheme as laid down in the Rate Rebate Regulations 1974, and subsequent amendments, does not at present allow for maintenance payments made by an applicant to be taken into account when calculating his entitlement to rebate. My right hon. Friend recognises that this may sometimes give rise to problems and is currently considering whether any changes ought to be made to the rate rebate scheme to deal with this.
