§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement of his assurances to New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Brian Talboys, on the question that New Zealand lamb exporters to Great Britain will not be put at a disadvantage under the proposed Common Market Regulations for sheep-meat importers; and whether he will publish in detail the assurances as given.
§ Mr. John SilkinMy colleagues and I had a valuable exchange of views with Mr. Talboys. We agreed that the United Kingdom and New Zealand share a common interest in ensuring that any common organisation for sheepmeat will provide adequate arrangements for marketing New Zealand lamb in the United Kingdom. I assured Mr. Talboys that the United Kingdom would continue to keep in close touch with New Zealand on this subject.
