§ 32. Mr. Arnoldasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action he has taken on the EEC Commission report to the Council on the economic effects of the agri-monetary system.
§ Mr. John SilkinI have told the Council that any suggestion that monetary compensatory amounts should be phased out as proposed by the Commission could only be considered in the context of a fundamental reform to establish an economically justifiable common price level expressed in a more representative unit of account. I have also told the Council of my disappointment at the report's inadequate consideration of the problem of pigmeat monetary compensatory amounts.
