Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether his Department is required to approve all pay increases at the Swan Hunter shipyards on the Tyne; whether he has been kept informed of the constant industrial disputes at the yards since nationalisation; and whether, having regard to the loss of orders, large scale redundancies and current complete closure of the yard he will set up an independent inquiry to bring forward proposals for ensuring a return to good industrial relations at the yard.
