HC Deb 13 March 1978 vol 946 cc36-7W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the multi-racial society, he will arrange for all information on taxation and matters issued in written form by his Department to be published in the languages of the major ethnic groups, such as Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati and Punjabi.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

As I told by hon. Friend on 28th February—[Vol. 945, c.181]—the Inland Revenue already supplies an explanatory leaflet in these five languages. There would be little advantage in extending this arrangement to all forms issued by the Inland Revenue and the Customs and Excise.
