§ 34. Mr. Arnold Shawasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection, whether he will make a statement on the Price Commission report on proposed fare increases by British Railways.
§ Mr. MaclennanMy right hon. Friend together with his right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport, is considering this report and discussions have taken place with the British Railways Board. The Government's conclusions will be announced shortly. The Board well understands the grievances of London commuters about the cost of rail travel and will give full ocnsideration to the Commission's suggestion that future fare increases should not discriminate further against these travellers unless improved cost analysis shows this to be justified.
