HC Deb 02 March 1978 vol 945 cc373-4W
Mr. Wall

asked the Minister of Overseas Development how many South African and South West African students have applied for grants to study in the United Kingdom; how many have been granted; and what is their total value.

Mrs. Hart

No provision is made in the British bilateral training programme at present for South African students. In respect of Namibians, 134 applications for awards under the training programme have been considered since 1975. So far 38 awards have been made, at an esti- mated cost of £215,000 in the three financial years 1976–77 to 1978–79.
