asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of action taken over the past 10 years in which central Government have written off capital debt of public authorities or undertakings in Scotland.

The following capital debt of public corporations in England has been written off by central Government since 1966:

were written off in 1969–70 and and 1974–75 respectively.

Details of capital debt of public corporations operating in the whole of the United Kingdom, written off by central Government in the period 1966 to 1976, are given on page 124 of the notes to the Blue Book "National Income and Expenditure 1966–1976".
