§ Mr. MoyleThe number of doctors employed in the National Health Service in England at 30th September 1977 was approximately 53,500. The corresponding figure for 1967 was 41,500—this latter figure includes doctors employed by local authorities to carry out duties which have been the responsibility of the NHS since 1974.
