HC Deb 29 June 1978 vol 952 cc653-4W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, following the revelation of a substantial black market in the sale of British Leyland Land Rovers and Range Rovers, in Great Britain and Europe, he will state what official measures are being taken to encourage exports of these vehicles.

Mr. Meacher

It is open to anybody with goods to export to apply for advice and help to the British Overseas Trade Board if he requires it. I understand that British Leyland has plans for a major expansion programme for Land Rovers and Range Rovers, the first phase of which will enable production to be increased next year. This programme should greatly increase the number of these vehicles available for export.
