§ 41. Mr. James Johnsonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the first 18 months operation of the new fishery protection measures; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BishopI refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to him on 25th April 1978.—[Vol. 948, c.510]
Since we extended our fishery limits nearly 18 months ago our fishery protection vessels have carried out over 2,500 boardings of fishing vessels at sea. Checks are also carried out on fishing vessels in port. The skippers of more than 100 fishing vessels have been convicted of offences against United Kingdom fishery regulations.
