§ Miss Margaret JacksonThere are no statutory requirements concerning access to school records. Decisions about access by parents are the responsibility of local education authorities and practice varies. However, as part of the wider review of their curricular activities occasioned by the Green Paper "Education in Schools", we have asked authorities to examine and report on their existing record-keeping practices. The Green Paper itself stressed the need for full regard to be paid to the rights of parents, as well as those of teachers and pupils, to know what material is included.
