HC Deb 31 July 1978 vol 955 c61W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what would be the cost of allowing all school-children to travel free on public transport to school.

Miss Margaret Jackson

The information requested is not available and an estimate could not be made without conducting a survey of all local education authorities and transport undertakings. Expenditure on free transport at present is in excess of £100 million per annum.
