asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to be able to announce the outcome of the negotiations under way between the Nature Conservancy Council and the new owner of 5,500 acres on the Ribble Estuary.

I am unable at this stage to give any indication. The negotiations are proceeding and the Nature Conservancy Council will clearly do all it can to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
