§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in the light of public concern in the United Kingdom for human rights, he will issue a circular to local authorities suggesting that they should consider naming streets or squares or civic buildings in honour of political prisoners, for example Nelson Mandela.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettMy right hon. Friend has at present no plans to issue such a circular. There is nothing to prevent local authorities naming their streets, squares and buildings in this way if they wish.
