§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current staffing establishment of the building integrity division of the Building Research Establishment; what variation this shows from the figure given by the Under-Secretary of State in the debate, Official Report, 20th March, c. 1276; and what are the reasons for any such variations.
§ Mr. ArmstrongThe current complement of the Building Integrity Division is 10 and the number of staff in post at 1st July was six, excluding the division head. The complement figure is the same as that given in the debate on the Consolidated Fund Bill on 20th March; the staff in post figure is two less. This variation is accounted for by the resignation of one scientific officer to take a more highly paid job in industry and the transfer of a senior scientific officer to another but related division closer to his discipline. Vacancies will be filled at the earliest possible opportunity.
§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will set out in tabular form (a) the approved 1977–78 and 1978–79 complements for Building Research Establishment staff and (b) the numbers now currently in post for each of the follow- 904W ing grades; director, CSO, DCSO, SPSO, PSO, SSO, HSO, SO and ASO.
§ Mr. ArmstrongThe complement and staff in post figures are as follows:
