§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsCharitable status is naturally a matter of close concern to the independent schools, but I have not discussed it recently with their governing bodies or other representatives. The Government are considering the matter and the definition of charitable122W purposes in general in the light of the tenth report from the Expenditure Committee in the Session 1974–5, and of the report of the committe on charity law and voluntary organisations set up by the National Council of Social Service under the chairmanship of Lord Goodman.
