HC Deb 13 July 1978 vol 953 cc715-6W
Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on employment in the telecommunications industry.

Mr. Golding,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6th July 1978; Vol. 975, c. 260], gave the following information:

Employment in telecommunications has declined markedly in recent years. The sector working party's report on the industry forecast a further, though less

for the EEC as a whole, for each present member State of the EEC, the USA and Japan for each year since 1970 the number of working days lost through strikes per 1,000 employed population.

Mr. Golding

I shall reply to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
