Friend the Secretary of State for766W Scotland and I have now decided on the rates of grant for 1978–79 for postgraduate studentship awarded by the Education Departments and the research councils. They will be increased as follows: For students living away from home and attending an establishment in London, from £1,655 to £1,990; for students living away from home and attending an institution outside London, from £1,475 to £1,610; for students living in the parental home, from £1,075 to £1,210. These increases are in line with those announced on 19th April for undergraduate students.
