§ Mr. Welsh
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what are the estimated costs so far of implementing the provisions of the Control of Pollution Act 1974; and if he will distinguish 749W between local and central Government costs;
(2) how many sections of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 remain to be implemented; and if he is satisfied with the operation of this measure.
§ Mr. Michael Morris
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many sections of the Control of Pollution Act remain to be implemented; and what proposals he has for their implementation.
§ Mr. Denis Howell
Six sections of Part I and 20 sections of Part II have not yet been implemented. I announced the Government's plans for implementing these sections in reply to my right hon. Friend the Member for Jarrow (Mr. Ferny-hough) on 13th April. I am generally satisfied with the operation of the Act, but I shall be better satisfied when all its provisions are in force. I regret that the information on costs is not readily available.
