The following, expressed in grammes per litre, are the limits on lead content of petrol currently applying in other EEC countries:
- Belgium—0.55
- Denmark—0.40
- France—0.55
- West Germany—0.15
- Ireland—0.64 (commercial limit only)
- Italy—0.62 (commercial limit only)
- Luxembourg—0.55
- Netherlands—0.40
In accordance with the terms of a recently agreed EEC directive, it is proposed to reduce the limit in the United Kingdom to 0.40 from 1st January 1981.
