§ Mr. HoramNew diesel-engined lorries already have to be tested for compliance with specific smoke limits; we are discussing with other countries in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe possible limits for gaseous emissions from such vehicles. There are more general regulations to limit emissions from existing vehicles; work is well advanced on developing a more effective method for testing such emissions.
