asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many returns of information are made by (a) non-metropolitan counties, (b) non-metropolitan districts, (c) metropolitan counties and (d) metropolitan districts to his department each year.

The types of return made to the statistics and research division each year number (a) 47 from non-metropolitan counties, (b) one from non-metropolitan districts, (c) nil from metropolitan counties, and (d) 48 from metropolitan districts.
