asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will supply a list of comprehensive schools in Dorset that do not have a sixth form and give their numbers.

The following comprehensive schools in Dorset do not have sixth forms:

Age Range and Number of Pupils

  • Highcliffe Comprehensive—11–16 943.
  • Christchurch, Twynham Comprehensive—11– 16 1,010.
  • Christchurch, The Grange Comprehensive—11–16 856.
  • Lytchett Minster Comprehensive—11–16 583.

In addition, there are two 11–14 comprehensive schools and 10 9–13 comprehensive middle schools deemed secondary. The authority has put forward plans for the reorganisation of Bournemouth and Poole which envisage a further nine 11–16 comprehensive schools and six 12–16 comprehensive schools, with a sixth form college in each town.
