HC Deb 13 July 1978 vol 953 c709W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the results of his discussions with representatives of Barclays Bank concerning their alleged breaking of the Government's incomes policy in the case of its employees at the Brent shopping precinct held on 7th July 1978; and on what statutory authority he arranged these discussions.

Mr. Harold Walker

As an outcome of discussions with representatives of Barclays Bank on 7th July my officials are satisfied that the bank's arrangements for remunerating staff at its Brent Cross branch, which are similar to those existing in other part of its organisation where evening and Saturday working is required, are not inconsistent with the pay policy. The bank's representatives were pleased to co-operate in providing information on a voluntary basis.
