§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieThe Department of Employment's statistics of employment are analysed according to the minimum list headings of the standard industrial classification, which does not identify fish processing separately. Fish processing is included in heading 214 "Bacon curing, meat and fish products". 275W The numbers of employees in employment in this heading for each of the six years ending 1976, the latest date for which the information is available, are shown in the following table:

It is also estimated that there are about 2,000 workers employed at various times of the year on herring processing.
