§ Mr.Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Defence pursuant to his reply of 27th June, if he will detail the changes that have been made in the course of the past year in the standards required of aircrew candidates; and whether these standards have been revised upwards or downwards.
§ Mr.WellbelovedIn the course of the past year there have been no major changes in the qualifications required of such candidates. However, greater refinement is now applied in the weight 219W given to various pilot aptitude tests, and wider discretion has been allowed on the eligibility of candidates who wear corrective lenses. Therefore, in so far as a great deal of research is being undertaken into ways of improving the predictive validity of our pilot aptitude tests, standards in training are being revised upwards.
