§ Mrs. Knightasked the Secretary of State for Employment what guideline was used in imposing a 150 per cent. increase in the cost of renewing petroleum licences for small filling stations operated by self-employed persons.
§ Mr. John Grant, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 30th June], gave the following information:
The increased scale of fees payable with effect from 1st July 1978 for petroleum licences under the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928 was designed to take account of the decrease in money values since 1968 when the fees were last fixed, and with a view to meeting the costs incurred by licensing authorities in issuing the licences. The scale of fees is related to the amount of petrol kept.
