§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if he will introduce legislation to seek to ensure the sale of electrical appliances with plugs already attached in order to offset the danger of shock and death in their later and possibly incorrect attachment, as established in the findings of the Consumer Safety Unit.
§ Mr. John FraserAlthough such a requirement would have obvious advantages from the safety aspect, I understand that it could give rise to a number of practical difficulties. Another problem is the variety of plug and socket systems used in this country. I propose, nevertheless to refer the matter to the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Household Electrical Equipment for consideration.
