§ 28. Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection when he intends to publish new regulations covering the disclosure of information in advertisements and elsewhere to applicants for credit loans and hire-purchase finance.
§ Mr. John FraserI propose to lay before Parliament this Session regulations governing advertisements and quotations under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. The regulations and the associated provisions of that Act will regulate the content of credit and hire advertisements and quotations and provide that an advertiser commits an offence if an advertisement contains information which in a material respect is false or misleading.
§ 40. Miss Boothroydasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether he will implement Sections 87, 88 and 89 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 relating to notice of default on payment before repossessing goods on hire; and on what date these sections will become effective.
§ Mr. John FraserI hope that it will be possible to make the necessary order and regulations in the latter part of the year.
