Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what taxable unearned income would be required to produce a net annual income of £100,000, £200,000 and £500,000, assuming the taxpayer is single with no dependants.

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 25th January 1978; Vol. 942, c. 597], gave the following information:

Assuming that the taxpayer is under 65 years of age the figures are £4,656,000, £9,656,000 and £24,656,000 respectively.
