§ Mr. McElhoneCourts in Scotland have no powers at present to make community service orders, but experiments have recently been initiated in certain areas where probation orders, with community work as a condition, may be made by courts with the consent of offenders. The number of such orders made during the last quarter of 1977 was as follows:
