§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to ensure that local authorities have facilities for waste food processing plants or make available funds for farmers to set up such plants themselves.
§ Mr. StrangThe provision of local authority waste food processing plants must remain a matter for the commercial judgment of the local authorities themselves. Farm plants are already in existence; there are currently some 1,200 producers in Great Britain licensed to process waste food on their premises. Assistance is available for new applicants provided their proposals meet the criteria for grant.
