I refer the hon. Member to the statement which I made to the House yesterday.

asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on the costs of his New Year visit overseas; who accompanied him; what were the countries visited; and what presents or gifts were given and received.

My wife and I, accompanied by my Parliamentary Private Secretary and 21 staff and officials, visited Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Egypt between 3rd and 13th January 1978. The estimated cost is £60,000. Presents given during the tour included china, prints and books; gifts received included pictures, cloth and carvings.
