§ Mr. FreesonNo separate allocation of resources has been made for housing action areas in the years referred to, but the number of housing action areas has risen from 11–1974 to 237 to date covering over 73,000 dwellings. The total expenditure for buying and renovating older houses by local authorities and housing associations, which includes housing action area expenditure, during this period has been about £2,500 million.
