asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total number of persons employed by central Government, local government and public corporations in Wales at the latest available date compared with the same date in 1974.

The latest year for which comprehensive data is available is 1976. In the case of certain public corporations estimates can only readily be made by classifying the industrial headings to which they belong wholly to the public sector. Details of certain smaller public corporations are excluded as this
