asked the Secretary of State for Industry when he expects to conclude another planning agreement in the private sector.

I share the concern implicit in my hon. Friend's Question. The lack of positive response from industry to this important aspect of Government industrial policy is deeply disappointing. However, we remain firmly committed to the planning agreement concept and exploratory discussions with a number of companies in a wide range of industries continue. Announcements about progress in individual cases will be made as circumstances permit.
