Mr. Newens

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will provide a list of the salaries payable to the chairmen, vice-chairmen and members of boards of the various nationalised industries, with the comparable figures for the period immediately prior to 28th February 1974.

It is not possible within the time available to provide information for each board, but in general the full-time salaries of chairmen, deputy chairmen and board members were in February 1974 within the following ranges:

Since February 1974, these salaries generally have been increased by threshold supplements—up to a maximum of £229.68 per annum—and £4 per week which was paid under the guidelines of the second round of pay policy. The increase announced by the Prime Minister on 15th December 1977 and payable from 1st January 1978 has not yet been implemented.
